This intense and exhilarating full contact sport combines elements of rugby, basketball and handball and is played in mixed teams.
The mission of the club is to engage and offer sporting opportunities to the disabled community across the south coast. The team welcomes players from a wide range of sporting backgrounds, including elite athletes and beginners alike.
Whilst providing opportunities for players, the club also seeks to engage Southampton Solent University students by providing them a unique opportunity to interact with a disability sports team.
Reflecting the club's community roots, Team Solent Sharks regularly participate in community sports events in conjunction with local groups to promote disability sport and wheelchair rugby within Southampton and its surrounding areas.
The club intends to develop partnerships with special schools in Hampshire running taster sessions in order to inspire young disabled people to take up the sport. Team Solent Sharks, the biggest wheelchair rugby club in the South, is always on the lookout for new players! So, get in touch if you want to have a go!
