Season 2009/10

Team Solent Division 4 09.10

Team Solent Basketball entered its first National League season in EBL division 4. The team had a great start to the season winning the first 9 league games and going into the Christmas break undefeated. January saw Team Solent loses its first league game and get knocked out of the National Cup. Solent then picked up the pace and won 5 of the final 6 league games and won the league with a 14-2 record. Solent cruised through the playoff quarter finals defeating Sevenoaks Suns 89-65. The semi-finals took Solent on the road to play the Nottingham Hoods. After a close game in which Solent led at half time by 1 point, Nottingham took the win 83-71. Solent took promotion to Division 3 the following season.

Season 2010/11

Team Solent Division 3 10.11

Team Solent had gained promotion to Division 3. The team had recruited a number of solid players including John Wilkins, Clayton Milner, and Ryan Payne. Solent had a positive start to the season with a 7-3 record heading into the Christmas break. The new year brought ups and downs for Solent, who went through injuries, defeats and wins to push them to a third place finish with a 14-6 record. Solent travelled to Sheffield to play the playoff quarter final, again in a close battle that came down to the final 3 minutes Solent were beaten by 4 points, 74-70. Solent again had gained promotion to Division 2 due to their final league position.

Season 2011/12

Team Solent was again a newly promoted team and had again recruited new talent to help them. Notable signings were Lawrence Brown and Sam Dye. Solent started their season with some big wins in the Patrons cup and finishing second in the group. However, the start of the league had Solent drop in performance losing their first 3 games and getting to the Christmas break with a 3-5 record sitting 9th in the league. The New Year brought new players for Solent, most notably Karim Gaye and Matt Guymon, who became the teams new starting guard after injuries to Ant Rutter and Sam Dye. Solent ended the season on a role taking 9 of the last 12 games and finishing 5th in the league with an 11-9 record. The team travelled to Birmingham Mets for the playoff quarter final, where they encountered a close and physical game. Solent caught fire from the 3-point line in the second half and took the victory 92-79. The squad then took on Team Northumbria in the semi-finals; Northumbria had won the league that season with an impressive 18-2. Team Solent battled hard against a strong Northumbria defence, which proved too much in the end as Northumbria claimed the win 77-63.
